How did we fucking get here from 2000? We have technology we couldn't have dreamed of 25 years ago. And it all sucks. Search. 25 years ago Google was so eerily accurate that you could punch in keywords, click "I feel lucky" and have a good chance of getting exactly what you wanted. Now, sometimes what you're looking for isn't even on the first page of results--if it's there at all--and you're saddled with a moronic "AI" that nobody asked for that is wrong at least as often as it is right.
Just now I remembered the Fed would be meeting this month and I wanted to know when so I typed "Fed December meeting" into DuckDuckGo and it wasn't until the 5th hit that I got the date for the meeting. The 5th hit! I mean, this is just the most basic of information--the 5 W's--Who, What, Why, Where, WHEN, and How. How is it that, when you're looking for info on a meeting you have to dig to find out when it is going to be? Isn't that about the first thing anyone wants to know if they're looking for info on a meeting? Bah. It's literally gotten so bad that I've added Excite and Dogpile to my bookmarks. They're as useless as Google and DuckDuckGo, but I check them from time to time because they can't be any fucking worse. I hate the 21st century.
[ETA:] I created a MySpace profile years ago because Facebook has gotten so useless, but it's even more useless because I think I'm actually the only person who still has an account there.
