A couple fairly coherent dreams last night. Interestingly, recurring exclusively dream locations factored in all of them--including one that I only just realized wasn't a real location.
My family was visiting a town I used to live in (1-it was mostly Portland OR, but there were some aspects of Minneapolis-St. Paul, 2-both my parents are dead so it's always a little interesting to get one of these family dreams. I think it is a storytelling trope the subconscious understands so it uses it to represent that emotion of a family event). They were doing something that didn't require me so I was going to maybe revisit some old haunts while I was there to kill time. Mom gave me $10 and since there's light rail, I was easily able to get to where I wanted to go. There was this cool, funky bar that I liked to stop off at for lunch or after work when I was doing temp work downtown. I think I wound up making it there but it gets a bit unclear after that. At some point I think me and some of the other pub-goers wound up in a warehouse or a basement or something that had an irregular floor that we decided would be a great skate park. Then I woke up for a bit and realized that I'd never actually been to this bar that I was so familiar with--except in dreams. It was largely modeled on some of the McMenamin's pubs out in Oregon, but it was supposed to be somewhere around Dinkytown, the college neighborhood for the Twin Cities.
Next dream wasn't as exciting. It was just me, butting into a conversation with some strangers. They were talking about some chain craft shop and how the one by a relatively nearby park is little and crappy. I'd been to it and agreed. Then they were talking about a different branch and I said there was one near my house that I was pretty happy with. I was drawing a blank about the street it was on--probably because it was a fictional craft shop and none of the locations actually exist anywhere. Then we got to talking about 2 of the locations for the supermarket I shop at and how the bigger, newer, "nicer" one has gone downhill in the last 5 years or so while the older one doesn't have as much selection but the service is much better.--This dream was almost certainly caused by 2 of the employees of the captive liquor store at the older location, talking about being at the newer location and getting unfriendly, crappy service.
