Star Trek Picard season 2

Looks like another dog's breakfast. Maybe they could either abandon the nostalgia hook or go the other way and actually respect the fanbase they're trying to milk.

Why would they, unless Jews actually do run Hollywood? Hmm? Mel Gibson was wrong, wasn't he? Wasn't he?

Funny thing about trying to secretly control an industry -- the big part of keeping it a secret is to not flex the power you don't want people to know you have.
 
I'm confused about one thing: Was the "sexual tension scene" between the Rom-Irish-ulan housekeeper and the 97 year old man intended to be comedic? Or was that accidental?

Yeah, it was pretty good. Stewart's chemistry with Goldberg and de Lancie (briefly!) was still there. Actual proper looking Starfleet starships! It's been a while! The Romulan woman is hot and Jean-Luc should have Jean-Luc'ed her.

And hey they finally acknowledged Jurati being a murderer.
 
I feel like Star Trek has a credibility problem with doing the ol' cold open into a situation where a ship is getting destroyed because the audience isn't going "oh shit our heroes are in trouble" we're thinking "this is a holodeck thing probably? Training new cadets, that sort of thing"
 
I think the Borg were definitely trying to help as the Queen was only stunning the idiot officers who kept shooting at her despite their Captain telling them to stop.

Literally when they showed PIcard on the Bridge in that scene I thought "oh he's teaching at the Academy now."
 
Yeah and I was surprised when they mentioned the Kobayashi Maru later in the ep. Someone who worked on the episode knew that the cold open would fall flat because it's a thing Star Trek does all the time, they just didn't fix it.

Just have the cold open be "there's an anomaly in space calling Picard's name", no need to do the BSG 24 hours earlier stuff!

They almost packed too many new elements in (without being able to move the story along very far), but other than that it was pretty solid. I thought the Queenks costume looked pretty silly (kind of like a Marvel background goon or something) but someone said it was the batmobile armour from Endgame (either an early iteration of it, or they assimilated it from a Fed ship that had it installed after Voyager returned). Anyway, I guess they wanted a grand reveal of her face even tho everyone’s seen the trailers.

The best thing really was how they addressed complaints about the first season. They could’ve easily had the Stargazer and La Sirena be the only ships at the anomaly, but starship porn fleet seemed like a deliberate counter to the copy paste fleet in season 1.

I’m not sure Jurati’s defense makes much sense but at least they gave that a go.

And I guess Seven only wanting a casual thing with Rafi ties in with there being no lead up to them coupling up at the end of the season. I guess it was just a heat of the moment thing.

I hope we spend too long in the maybe Mirror Universe or 21st century LA. It sounds like the least innovative thing they could possibly do.
 
The de-aging on de Lancie was... better than they did with Brent Spiner in Season 1, but still very, very weird and 'off'. Guess that's just the state of the technique, though.

Considering it's been 18 months since season one, they could have just said she spent a year+ in some kind of rehab facility where all her remaining murderous impulses were removed.
