Star Trek Picard season 2

They sure did seem in a hurry to transplant everyone out of the utter mess that was Chabon's high concept nonsense at the end of season 1 and Q is as good an excuse as any to do it but given the Mirror Universe is so well established in lore it is jarring to have it not actually be the Mirror Universe but they're all replacing evil versions of themselves--just like the Mirror Universe. It's more than a bit on the nose. Also, again with the Borg. They were not used well in season 1 although we can go back to Voyager when it comes to the mismanagement of them as a plot device nothing I see here fills me with much hope that they won't continue to reduce the impact they should have. They've just become too familiar at this point, and the Queen does kind of undermine a lot of what made them so effective as soulless automatons that can't be parlayed with. Again, that cat has been out of the bag long before this series but the Queen here doesn't seem very menacing or even very Borg-like bar the visuals (which are not as good as First Contact)

I liked seeing proper Starfleet vessels and the Q de-age to the old version of himself was a great scene (even though I'm sure we all knew it would be done once we knew he was back).

I mean, nothing terribly egregious has been done yet and I am willing to give it a chance to see where they take it although I'll keep my expectations low and hope to be pleasantly surprised. Fool me once and all that.
 
Yeah I was shocked at the end because it felt like only 20 minutes had passed.

Hope Rios isn't lusting after his own relative.

Haven't seen anyone beam off the ground since the animated series.

It's probably Brent Spiner's Yet Another Relative Of Noonien Soong Who Is Physically 100% Identical To Noonien Soong. At this point, the Soong family tree appears to be more like a stump. If it goes much further, the only way they'll be able to explain it, canonically, is to just throw up their hands and say that Soong is an immortal like the character of Flint from the TOS episode, "Requiem For Methuselah." There's no way that generations of natural breeding would leave the male members of a family 100% identical to one another over the course of 300 years.

I though the Watcher might be Guinan, but they made a point of saying Guinan had chosen to look older in her 25th century scene with Picard, so it wouldn't really make sense for her to look older in the 21st century than she did in TNG (unless she made herself look old in the 21st century for some reason then made herself younger by the time of TNG...I don't know.)
