Boston, a 6-foot-5 center/forward, started every game for the 13-27 Fever, averaging 14.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocked shots. Her 57.8 shooting percentage from the field made her the first rookie to lead the league in that category for a season. She finished with 11 double-doubles.

The roads that took the Aces and Liberty to the WNBA Finals
For the first time since 2002, New York is in the WNBA Finals. It is the last active original WNBA franchise to not win a league title. While that doesn't necessarily seem to weigh on the current players -- none of whom have been with the team more than four seasons -- longtime fans at last feel like happy days are here again. It's been quite a wait. The Liberty will face an Aces team that moved to Las Vegas in 2018 and saw almost immediate success, winning its first title last year in Hammon's first season as coach. These franchises have two of the best players in women's basketball: two-time MVPs A'Ja Wilson (Vegas) and Breannan Srewart (New York). The Aces (34-6) and Liberty (32-8) also had the top records in the WNBA and garnered the "superteam" nickname.

The team will play its games at the Chase Center and train in Oakland, where the Warriors practiced until 2019.

Down 2-0 in WNBA Finals, 'It's about action now, not emotion' for Liberty
New York Liberty coach Sandy Brondello said that for as upset as her team was with Wednesday's stunning 28-point blowout loss to the Las Vegas Aces in Game 2 of the WNBA Finals, "It's about action now ... no f---ing feelings anymore." Despite a highly anticipated matchup between the two superteams, the Liberty who took the court for the start of the Finals have been unrecognizable from the team that basketball fans and the Liberty themselves watched most of the year. New York has been outscored by 48 points across the last six quarters of the Finals, and allowed the Aces to score a WNBA Finals-record 38 first-quarter points in Game 2. Las Vegas has scored 203 points in two games against a Liberty defense that ranked No. 3 in defensive rating in the regular season -- and for the most part New York's offense hasn't been much better, either. New York fared much better against the Aces previously this season, handily beating them in the Commissioner's Cup championship game and tying them in the regular-season series, 2-2.

'They're the real deal': Aces on cusp of 2nd title
For all the hype and hoopla surrounding the WNBA Finals matchup between the league's two "superteams," and amid high expectations of a competitive series, one squad has largely dominated. After two games, one is a win away from clinching the 2023 WNBA championship: the Las Vegas Liberty. The Aces took a resounding 2-0 series lead over the New York Liberty behind a statement 104-76 Game 2 victory Wednesday at Michelob Ultra Arena, positioning themselves to become the first repeat champions since 2001-02. Teams that go up 2-0 in a best-of-five WNBA playoff series are 17-0 all time. In the Finals, teams have lost all eight series in which they trailed 0-2 and were swept in seven of the eight instances. Either the Aces will complete the championship sweep or the Liberty will manage to keep their season alive Sunday when the teams reconvene for Game 3 at 3 p.m. ET (ABC) in New York.

Aces edge Liberty to secure 2nd straight WNBA championship
The Las Vegas Aces, dogpiling on top of one another at half court as the buzzer sounded to cement Wednesday's 70-69 Game 4 victory over the New York Liberty and the 2023 WNBA championship, had been there before. Las Vegas closed out its title run despite being without starting point guard Chelsea Gray and starting center Kiah Stokes, who both suffered foot injuries in Game 3. The Aces are the first team in WNBA history to win a playoff game without multiple starters from the previous game. The Aces are the second team in WNBA history to clinch a title with a one-point win, joining the 2016 Sparks, who beat the Minnesota Lynx 77-76 in Game 5. New York fell to 2-10 all time in the WNBA Finals and is still searching for its first championship. Teams that fall to 0-2 in the best-of-five series are 0-18 all time in those series, including 0-9 in the Finals.
