p.s. did I mention when you walk on the snow up here it sounds like Styrofoam?

I wonder what the Inuit word for "So effing cold the snow squeaks like Styrofoam" is?

I believe the word is qiqiqralijarnatuq.

Contrary to popular belief, there are not hundreds of words for snow in the Inuit language - just hundreds of descriptors. They just tack together their adjectives with their nouns, so to a native Anglophone it seems like they have hundreds. Instead, they're just saying "white snow" "wet snow" "squeaky snow" "thick snow" and variations thereof.

Love the pictures - especially your MacGyvering of the suet feeder. Too bad when we get snow around here it's quickly followed by a warm spell and rain.

Beautiful photos!

It's been bitter cold here this week, but no snow. It's supposed to snow this evening/overnight (just a couple of inches), then continue to be bitter cold through the weekend, and then it's supposed to warm up to temperatures that don't cause me to wear a scarf around the house.

I suppose I shouldn't mention that it's 70 degrees and I feel a little chilly.
