Where is the Random Thread of Randomness stuff that doesn't belong in other threads thread?

Yup. That's the most probable in that case. Mechanical/electrical failure. Power surge, short, dust, moisture, a literal bug. Something inside the casing. The speaker on my ancient laptop is increasingly dying. Started watching long YouTube videos and now just about anything will kill it. I can bring it back by blowing canned air in the speaker grille. Overheating? Dust? Failing wiring? Entropy sucks. On top of that I can't even find a decent pair of headphones to plug into the jack. I know I've got some laying around. Already wore out 2 cheap pairs from when they used to have music channels on airliners.
OH! I'm out of canned air. And the speaker died again. So, since I had nothing to lose, I tapped on it. And it came back. So probably a lose/worn wire/connection.
