Went to a good production of Aida last night

While the singers weren't the most impressive, the staging, costumes, and sets were very unusual and quite beautiful. The final scene with Aida and Radames buried alive in the tomb was given a very chilling and eerie execution: A series of curtains with a triangle section closed in on the lovers, creating a smaller and smaller triangular space as they sang their final duet, until it finally closed in on them altogether. Beautiful.

Was that the Broadway show? We wanted to do that, but could only afford one show while we were down there, so we chose Rent. But this was the other choice.

Looks fantastic.

This was the Verdi opera, not the Broadway show. The Broadway Aida is definitely worth seeing, though, if you like Elton John's music.
