TERRA NOVA CANCELLED!?!?!?!

CaptainWacky

I want to smell dark matter
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo

(Did anyone actually watch it?)

I never bothered with it.

How many seasons did it last?

No idea.

But the producers are shopping it around to other networks -- does SyFy have room on their schedule for another orphan show?

It was pretty bad:( edited because it was info Eggs already gave)

One. Its suffered from too much family drama and romance early on, by the time it ramped up the action/mystery/excitement it was too late.

Plus it was expensive as shit to produce.

I liked it.

I hear they also cancelled alcatraz and house.

Not surprised about Alcatraz. It doesn't look good for when you pre-empt it with NASCAR and then decide to show the episode(#8) after airing episodes #9 and 10 in one night(also not a good sign as it looks like their trying burn off the remaining episodes quickly).

It also suffered from what is killing Walking Dead: all the action occured wayyyy offscreen. Then everyone would stand around and talk about it. "Hey you guys hear about the dinosaur attack that happened while no cameras were around?" "No, helpful exposition guy. Tell us all about it!"

I tried Terra Nova for about 3 eps. Tried!! The premise was so much fun - I wanted it to win. But no. Hackneyed writing. Worse acting. Also not a good sign when you're cheering for the DINOS.

Alcatraz bored me after 2.

OK, 1 1/2.

Never watched Alcatraz (was that the one with Hurley on an island?), but I watched Terra Nova for maybe five episodes before losing all interest. When I first heard there'd be a scifi show about dinosaurs I was so excited, but it was a real letdown. Too much cheesy family values stuff, some bad guys who dressed up silly purely so you knew they must be the bad guys, some absolutely braindead writing and the dinosaurs barely reared their heads in some episodes!

Infact, putting it like that, it's just as Donovan says. Very much how The Walking Dead's been.

Does "shopping it around to other networks" ever actually succeed? I know Buffy moved networks for its sixth season, but are there any examples of cancelled shows actually being saved?

House wasn't cancelled. Hugh Laurie chose not to do anymore and there's no show without him.

I know Stargate SG1 moved networks at one point.

And Neighbours!

Futurama, L&O: Criminal Intent, Scrubs, Taxi, Southland, Wonder Woman, just to name a few:

(Ignore all the ones that changed from "The WB" to "The CW" -- that was just a channel name change after they absorbed UPN.)

Baywatch was originally on NBC and cancelled after 1 season before it was picked up in syndication and became the most popular TV show in the world.

NBC is still the last place network right?

Yeah, except for the CW but they don't really count.

Univision (Spanish network) routinely beats half the broadcast networks these days. They're all dying out there.

The Jonathan Ross Asks Female Celebrities About Their Vaginas Show used to be on the BBC until he ruined Russell Brand's life and everyone found out he got paid 6 MILLION POUNDS for asking female celebrities about their vaginas. After that, it was decided he was much better suited to ITV.

But without Four Poofs And A Piano.

Yeah, when they found out they wouldn't be joining Jonathan Ross on ITV they were up shit creek. But, as for their careers...

Did ITV ever show the new Primeval (another example of a show being saved by another "network"!)? Not that I really care.
