I'm one eye on my phone and one the on the kerb. The very second I first read that, I had a real good eye booger going on and thought it said, "Don't drive an angry!"
Naturally, I wondered what model year that car was. Pictured Menty driving a 1997 Saturn Angry.
Y'know... persona aside, speaking in a rare state of candor, here: I looked back through the Speak Freely archives to give a proper answer to that challenge.
With all the necro'd threads down there, it's like walking into the back yard to see that the dog has torn the whole damn thing up. No grass, just holes and piles.
Nuke the whole thing.
Speaking frankly and just for myself, I'd rather see The Legendary Troll Kingdom gone than mutate into something it wasn't created to be.
My suggestion? 100% rebrand and repurpose.
Maybe just make the Mine Field the entirety of the board. Alternatively, lock visibility of the forums with "spicy" content to members-only access. Only people who want to see what's in there will be able to see what's in there.
Mentalist said:I tell you what. If someone can link me to three threads from the active forums that were archived, let's say, from the last half-decade, that engendered real conversation without the threat of over moderation, (the point of the website) and actually borne some interesting discussion that wasn't based on flinging shit based on race, sexuality or creed I'll hold off nuking the whole thing.
You have until I wake up.
Well, it certainly is a radical shift. As it all shakes out though, I'm beginning to see the wisdom of some of it.
You shouldn't be exposing yourself to compromise in your career over this messageboard.
don't worry peoples, this is a temporally thing that happens every 4 years. trollkingdom will be restored as soon as possible. its that time for a new and improve web-site.
Yes. SF and a few other forums are back on the main listing for now. I'm still mulling over how things are going to be organized. The forum will be updated shortly as well. If the whole site is down that'll be why.
I can kind of see wisdom of closing a bunch of inactive forums in order to concentrate activity in fewer remaining forums. That isn't bad. The stated problem was one member bumping old threads. I am not sure why that is so terrible. Also, why kill active threads (such as Volpone's jobs thread) by putting them in the archieves?
