No avatars for me

I can't stand to see it covered in eggs, tomatoes and lip prints.

I hate this feature, and won't use an avatar until it's either gone completely, or at least I have an option to opt-out of receiving these idiotic things.

One thing I totally understand is that Hambil has mm's blessing to tinker with the board any way he pleases so that he can perfect his hacks and release them over at the vB site, and then bask in all the glory. I accept that.

The question is, why can't he do it to a dummy copy of the board? Why does all the work have to be done live?
