I want to smell dark matter
I want to listen to this (even though I've read the book) because the cast is so good but will I actually listen to a radio play WHO KNOWS...

Everything Neil Gaiman breathes on is good. Gwyneth Paltrow has bottles of Gaiman breath for emergency use.

I did like Hari Kunzru "gods without men" as a similar writer to Gaiman if you want to look at that. It's not AS good, but its a good read. IT HAS SPACEMEN AND AUTISTIC BOYS IN IT.

There's supposed to be an American Gods series on HBO at some point before death so I can post a thread about that and complain about lack of Menty someday too.
 
I was wondering about the American Gods thing. It's supposed to premiere this year. ALSO, I would love to listen to Neverwhere, but I've never listened to a radio play before. Maybe it will be really good.

I met Neil Gaiman recently and ended up stabbing him in the gut with one of those IKEA wooden-handled steak knives.

Don't expect any new work out of him any time soon.

Like if the world found out GRRM ate himself to death in 2005 and Feast for Crows and Dance for Dragons were actually written by me and Susie. I understand.
 
GRRM devotes 90% of his waking time to fucking weirdly-shaped redhead BDSM-focusted fans of his.

He's not dead yet, but feel free to kill him next time he shows up in your country. The series will continue on no matter how public his death is.
 
I'm looking forward to having this on tonorrow while working. The Beeb has so much fantastic radio output. I hope the hour long running time won't put people off, as new people to radio might get freaked out by an hour of just listening.
 
Sometime I'll have to post my Gems from Radio 4. A lot of it goes in one ear and out the other when I'm doing computer work, but it still feels very enriching, and it's infinitely more entertaining than the constant sex jokes from my colleagues.
 
HBO isn't going to do American Gods now :(

Let's see: there's news, as I said in the header. AMERICAN GODS is now being developed for TV by Freemantle Media. As to where you will be able to see it, who is going to be in it, who will be writing or show-running, none of these things have yet been settled. But it already looks like it's going to be a smoother run developing it than it had at HBO, so I am very pleased.

(A few people have asked for more background on this: HBO had an option on American Gods for several years. It went through three different pilot scripts. HBO has a limited number of slots and, after a while, passed it to Cinemax, who are in the HBO family, who decided eventually they didn't want to do it, and the option expired, which unfortunately meant we couldn't work with Tom Hanks' production company Playtone any longer, as they are exclusive to HBO. However, Stefanie Berk, who had been one of the brightest stars at Playtone, had recently moved to Freemantle, and was as determined as she had been when she was at Playtone to bring American Gods to the screen. And I was impressed by her determination.)
