I know we're supposed to not really like our jobs

And I know I should be thankful for being employed, but HOLY FUCKING FUCKBALLS I CAN'T TAKE THIS STUPID SHIT ANYMORE

I've got an opportunity to be partner/co-owner with my sister who just bought a spice company and is moving it up to the Dallas area, and I'm giving it some serious thought.

The pros:

The business would be based about 10 miles from me, rather than 30.

No more having to get up at 3:30 in the morning, and rarely will weekends need to be worked unless it's a busy season.

Be my own boss.

Help my sister expand the business by marketing the spices/jams/ and all sorts of other stuff to the local stores and eventually the evil Wal-Mart.

The cons:

I did just get a raise, and right now I've got medical benefits.

I wouldn't really come in until the first of the year, but she will need the money by the beginning of next month. I'm just so unhappy at my current workplace I just want to quit and go work at Half-Price Books.

I know the feeling. Employment is just that. Self employment ultimately is where it's at.

Sounds like fun if there's any guarantee of income out of the blocks.

Sounds like a pretty straightforward decision, aside from the medical stuff. I'm not really sure how all that insurance stuff works.

Well, my medical insurance is top notch right now. $20 co-pay for doctors, free dental and vision, and depending on prescriptions, I usually only pay $10. Now, I get off of that and have no medical insurance, I'm paying out the ass for some for my drugs, especially my Advair (asthma thingy) and birth control (because I ain't no ho).

You could always try and get Medicaid.

Working for yourself in some way or another is a great feeling.

Ultimately you are still working for THE MAN, but the illusion of self control is gratifying.

The birth control you might be able to get from planned parenthood.

I like your "jobs", Tisi. If you know what I mean.

(I like the places you are employed and the work you do at them)

Working for people SUCKS!! It really is a no-brainer Tisi. GO FOR IT!!!!!

Sounds like a great opportunity. If you feel like it's something you would look forward to getting up to do every day for a long time, then maybe you should do it.

And even if you don't, as someone who has a similar work routine and environment, even when I think I'm gonna go crazy, I still have to sit back and think, "I could be digging ditches or a DRUG MULE WITH A CONDOM FULL OF BLOW UP MY BUTT." And I realize that I'm quite lucky, and it's up to me to make my work/life ratio better with the time I have.

Of course I don't do that though, so HEEHEE I'M CRACKING UP, but at least I know it enough to preach it LOL DUCKS.
