Well she needs to be called on it when she trolls anyway.

When people start to realize what she's getting away with they'll turn on her. ;)

That'll never happen because she believes the staff can do no wrong...
 
^Maybe so, but when someone does something against the rules and the staff ignores it then they're inviting another ration of shit.

Something I think they can ill afford right now.

I have to say that anyone as friendly with the staff as the current WD's are probably aren't the best choice for WD.

If you're included in the secret and you're big buddies with those you're watching, you're not going to say much about what they do back there. Hell NJ was a friend of mine back on the SS and she sat by as people actually conspired to find ways to ban me and made jokes at my expense.

You have to be made of sterner stuff to effectively do that job imho.

I appreciate the apology, Rommie. I did feel attacked. I guess it was the "what gives her the right" thing--and "things just don't add for me."

I've been aware since day one that some don't trust me enough to feel comfortable with my being a watchdog. That awareness--and a general fed-upness with the constant suspicions levelled at staff and other posters--has led me to tender my resignation from the post. I see no point in continuing it.

Staff isn't perfect, but my god they've exercised more restraint than most human beings are capable of. Every damned thing they do is scrutinized for some possible evil intent. People take a dot here and a dot there and put 'em together and say "Aha! Staff is conspiring against me and my friends!" And that is such enormous bullsh*t--as you well know, Rommie.

I don't know how they take it. I honestly don't. I know that my temper simply won't allow me to sit back and watch my intentions and my actions mischaracterized by the vocal few here with perpetual axes to grind.

I don't mean to place you in that category, Rommie. In my experience, you've always been fairminded. So the above is not so much directed at you.

I don't have the Slipstream history that many of you share. All I know is that posters were burned by the staff there--and the spectre of that place hangs over this board. The paranoia and the conspiracy theories and the group-think are going to be the undoing of this place--but I see far more of that from the membership than I do from the staff.

I wish y'all luck. But I don't need this kind of aggravation. I can't imagine who does. But I hope that the staff can find a replacement watchdog soon.

Did you have problems with Specs then?

My only problem with her so far is that she seems to be a staff lackey and that's just not the right attitude to have as a watchdog.

However since the staff picks the watchdogs...

What do you expect?

At least one notable exception here is Cait... I don't know how she managed to get this job, even in times long past.

To put it mildly, yes. :bigass:

My last suspension (and the one I'm currently on) dates back to her being elected. I basically called her on her lack of impartiality, along with that of her counterpart, and got hosed.

Anyone can see that she defends the staff more than she does anything else.
 
I got a problem with some one who runs a closed-door board. ;)
 
Well I don't care if I'm not a member of the board in question, really don't give a shit. Private clubs without me in them don't piss me off. It just shows their good judgement. ;)

I do have a problem with a board I belong to having a hidden forum however. ;)
 
There's been rumor that the closed board talks about members from other boards. Basically, that's as bad as a hidden forum to me.
 
It's no worse than a bunch of old gossiping hens clucking...

Let them talk in private like the cowards that they are... I prefer the open. ;)
 
If the boards were exclusively for staff or somesuch thing I suppose I'd have to agree with you...

Of course I assume that no one that does not lick staff anus would be invited in anyway. :D
