And the painter. I'll start it off with something relatively easy:

No idea. Judging from the clothes and lighting, maybe a Rembrandt?

Carravaggio was my first guess as well, though I wouldn't know which painting.
 
Yes, it's a Caravaggio - the Calling of St Matthew. I have to admit I thought it was Dutch first and thought it was called "A conversion" or something. I got the name nearly right but the nationality completely wrong.
 
^I didn't know which one but I did remember the guy liked to paint himself into his paintings (he said he couldnt afford to pay models) and the guy in the front looks like him, so that's what I guessed. That, and it's got all dat funkeh shadowy shit of his goin' on! :D
no clue about the title tho. headvoid, how did you ascertain what it was?

yep more rain, a whole week of more rain - we're ok down south, but my mum who's in the middle is stuck in her home - send summer over C2 please :)
