COMMUNITY ...AND A MOVIE OKAY

I don’t think the cast all independently decided to be that hostile without a serious reason, but it still reads pretty harsh.

I still love Chevy as an entertainer. He’s a genuine comedy great. I remember rollerblading down the road in a bathrobe as a kid, recreating the scene from Fletch.



Every time I put a Community episode on (which is often), I’m always entertained by Pierce, no matter how many times I’ve heard the jokes. He’s a great comedic actor. I just can’t wrap my head around what makes someone that belligerent all the time. To walk into an ensemble where half the cast are probably fans of yours, and end up with them screaming “fuck you” at your daughter at the wrap party…

The irony is, when SNL was first being formulated by Lorne Michaels, Chevy was instrumental in that development, and he was planning on being a writer, not on camera. But once he got on camera... the showbiz machine was engaged. Most accounts I've seen/read say he wasn't a true asshole until after he left the show. Several said that the real reason he left SNL was because he wanted to marry his girlfriend and have a different lifestyle than the all-night grind of putting the show out.

I didn't want to watch the new documentary before, but now I think I will just to see if any of this rings true.
