WEEEE-HOO! Why? Because their moderator is a fucking thief who has property of mine that doesn't belong to him and which he won't return. ;)
 
Why, sure! I roomed with Blade (a moderator over at Stripper Web) and his wife from, ohhhhh, July up until October. Now the first week I was there, they were gone on vacation. They get back and the next week, Blade's off work sick. The following week he's off for an injury. Then their vehicle goes tits-up. Keeping in mind they pay their rent every two weeks instead of every month, no idea what was up with that.

The point of all that being, come to find out they were a payment behind that whole time. "That whole time" then put them another payment behind, which meant eviction warning time. So who does Blade blame for this? Moi. Well, fuck that. So I decide I'm outta there. Don't need that shit. Well, I can't get transportation for my TV and my $6 thousand computer. Not knowing what the fuck is going to be going on the next morning (which is when they tell me they're going to have to have all their shit out of there) I tell Blade, "If the landlord asks, the TV and computer are yours. I'm outta here."

Now a rational, intelligent person would understand that the operative phrase there is, If Your Landlord Asks. The theory being that I don't want my shit just thrown out before I can find a ride to get it moved somewhere else. No, apparently that went right over Blade's dome, so Blade and Deanna conclude that I'm giving them a $6,000+ computer and an $850 television for being such nice, responsible people. :roll:


Anyway, I asked them to return my property, they won't do so and to top it off, I've now been banned for giving Blade one last opportunity to do the right thing.

Any official reason for you being banned?


Since the entire history is going to be unearthed or something, why not give it to us?
 
Ah -- the "official" reason is that I was "harrassing" the fucking thief. (Apparently trying to convince him to do the right thing elsewhere and then sending him one PM on his home board is "harrassment.") But I say let him try to come after me for harrassment, considering the fact that he's in possession of property that doesn't belong to him. At the very least, the cops might seize the disputed property when he can't provide a receipt or any other record of ownership; and when I do produce those materials, I get my shit back anyway.

See, the amusin' bit is that he probably thinks he's resolved the issue; all he's really done is given up having any say in how it's resolved.

Oh man, they're ghetto.

Anyhoo, I see this on The People's Court all the time. Get the receipts together, go to an electronics store have them help you figure out the depreciated value of your TV and computer and file a small claims suit. It only costs $20.00-$35.00 and when you get to court (if the thief doesn't return your shit under the threat of a lawsuit) you can say you don't really want cash you want your things back. The court will set a date for him to return your things and voila! In the meantime if the thief is going to sue you for rent he can do that in a counter claim but he won't win seeing as how he wasn't paying rent anyway.
 
Well, he can't sue me for rent. We agreed on $200 a month, and the least I ever gave them was $250.00. Two out of the 3 months I stayed with them I gave them $350.00, and offered to give them more if they needed it. Even when I found out about the threat of them getting evicted, I said, "Hey, do you guys need extra this month?" I was told, repeatedly, "Naw, we can work it out with them."

Then, completely in the 11th fucking hour, after I had gotten a check from the publisher in Hawaii, I asked them for a ride to my bank so I could cash that check. They turned me down, so I deposited that money in the bank, then I get bitched at for not somehow psychically, clairvoyantly GUESSING that they wanted me to pay them rent a day before I was supposed to.

Not my fault I'm not psychic.
 
You have the receipts for your stuff. They can't legally hold it for ransom in any way, can they?

I hope you got receipts for the rent you paid, Judge Marilyn Milian does not like it when you don't have proof of payment.

Those two sound like grade A assholes and probably think they were doing you a great favor. They were just using you and are assholes for not handing over your shit.
 
Cancelled checks should provide evidence of paid rent, unless you paid cash (!).

I hope you get everything back, and they get gang raped by chainsaw-wielding Sasquatches.
