The ACC traditionally has scheduled tough nonconference games over the first three weeks of the season, but with the ACC going 1-10 in Week 1 against Power 5 nonconference opponents since 2018, it has set in motion a narrative about the conference as a whole that is hard to break.
 
Georgia Bulldogs move to No. 2 in AP Top 25 poll after big win; Florida Gators debut at No. 12
The Bulldogs narrowed the gap on the Crimson Tide after beating Oregon 49-3 on Saturday. Georgia received 17 first-place votes. Florida debuted at No. 12 after its thrilling victory at home against Utah on Saturday night. The Utes slipped six spots to No. 13 after the loss.

Clemson Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney agrees to new 10-year, $115 million contract
Entering his 15th season as Clemson head coach -- beginning as interim coach in 2008 -- Swinney has won two national championships and seven ACC titles. With 151 wins, Swinney is in third place in FBS history for the most coaching wins in the first 15 seasons of a head-coaching career behind Urban Meyer (165) and Bob Stoops (160).

He leads the No. 13 Hurricanes in targets (12), catches (11) and receiving yards (172) for a team that lost both of its leading receivers from 2021. - Texas A&M is allowing just 112 passing yards per game and 3.9 yards per attempt through two games this season, both among the best marks in the country.

North Carolina Tar Heels QB Drake Maye apologizes for jab at NC State Wolfpack: 'It was inappropriate'​


North Carolina freshman quarterback Drake Mage apologized Tuesday evening for taking a shot at rival NC State earlier in the day, saying that his remark was meant as a joke but was "inappropriate." Maye, while meeting with the media to discuss the Tar Heels' upcoming game on Saturday against Notre Dame, was asked about the success of his predecessor, Sam Howell, during his time with the program. Like Howell, Maye also grew up in North Carolina and elected to stay in-state and play for UNC. In his apology, which was posted to Twitter, Maye wrote, "I made a remark today about NC State, and I want to apologize. I was answering a question about playing in-state and said something I shouldn't have. I said it as a joke but it was inappropriate. I feel bad and need to do a better job representing our program and this University."

After USC and UCLA announced their intention to join the Big Ten this summer, ACC administrators had informal conversations regarding the possible additions of members of the Big 12 and Pac-12 or a potential merger of the three leagues, according to several sources.The Raleigh News & Observer was first to report the discussions.
