Women's March Madness bracket questions for Selection Sunday

After one of the most exciting and unpredictable women's college basketball seasons in recent memory, Selection Sunday has arrived. It's been a fantastic ride, from catlin Clark's record-breaking season to another unbeaten run by South Carolina, and from the ultracompetitive race in the final season of the Pac-12 to all of the dynamic freshmen lighting up courts across the country. Evaluating schedules, quality wins, questionable losses, NET rankings and all the observations from games has filled the land of Bracketology for the past six weeks. Now it's time for the women's NCAA tournament selection committee to take center stage and provide the final 68-team field.

The Gamecocks, named the No. 1 overall seed in the women's NCAA tournament Sunday, are looking to become the 10th women's basketball team to go unbeaten for an entire season. Clark, who became the NCAA's all-time leading scorer this year, is trying to win her first title. USC and star freshman JuJu Watkins earned the Trojans' first No. 1 seed since 1986.

******************
The Atlantic Coast Conference and Southeastern Conference both have eight teams in the field. The Big Ten, Pac-12 and Big 12 each have seven. The Big East has three teams. The West Coast Conference and Ivy League each have two. It's the second time that the Ivy League has gotten an at-large bid.

#3 Seed NC State

James made a career-high seven 3-pointers and scored 27 points, and third-seeded North Carolina State earned its first trip to the Final Four of the women's NCAA Tournament since 1998. River Baldwin added 16 points for N.C. State (31-6), which will face unbeaten South Carolina in the national semifinals in Cleveland on Saturday.

#1 Seed Texas

Madison Booker, the Big 12 Player of the Year and one of the top freshmen in the country along with Southern California’s JuJu Watkins, finished with 17 points to lead the Longhorns (33-5), who were vying for their first Final Four since 2003. Texas won its lone national title in 1986, going 34-0. But it’s been 21 years since legendary coach Jody Conradt took the team to its last Final Four.

Women's March Madness 2024: Reseeding tournament's Elite Eight

The Iowa Hawkeyes and Texas Longhorns cruised. The Sputh Carolina Gamecocks and USC Trogans had to sweat. The Elite Eight in the 2024 women's NCAA tournament is set, and all the No. 1 seeds made it through. The same can't be said for the No. 2 seeds, which have all been eliminated. Four No. 3 seeds also advanced, but they are similar in seed alone. The UConn Huskies are the winningest program in the sport's history. The LSU Tigers are the defending national champions. Both have Hall of Fame coaches as well as players in Paige Bueckers and Angel Reese who are household names.
