The numbers behind Duke and Kentucky missing the 2021 NCAA tournament
For the first time since 1976, neither Duke nor Kentucky is part of the tournament. That's a whopping 45 years. For context, Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne founded Apple and released the first Apple computer in 1976. That's how long it has been.

The Zags are also expected to own the Tournament Challenge consensus when ESPN's audience has taken on the exercise to fill out a March Madness bracket or several brackets. But Gonzaga, which has reached the national championship game only once in its history and lost still has its naysayers. A total of 32 out of 34 respondents had Gonzaga coming out of the West region, by far the broadest consensus of any of the NCAA tournament's four regions.

This will be Houston's (28-3) first Final Four since Hakeem Olajuwon and coach Guy Lewis led the Cougars to the 1984 title game, in which they lost to Patrick Ewing and Georgetown. Oregon State (20-13) went 14-12 to close the regular season before making an unexpected run to the Pac-12 Tournament title.

Baylor (26-2) is headed there for the first time in 71 years, getting 22 points from MaCio Teague and a dominating defensive performance from Davion Mitchel. Arkansas (25-7)had not clawed this far down the bracket since playing in the 1995 national title game.
