Where is the Random Thread of Randomness stuff that doesn't belong in other threads thread?

Well, it was dead, so it wasn't very scary. It was kinda gross, though.

Yeah, they're not known for their cuddly demeanor or those annual pet shows where someone trots one out and makes it do tricks.

If you spent all night raiding garbage cans, you'd be gross too.

Or maybe you do. I dunno.

I know ENTIRELY more than I want to know about dead woodland animal anatomy, thanks to having had Adventure Dogs for 15 years or so.

One or more poachers around here dispose of the parts of deer that they don't want by putting them in big black trash bags and chucking them in the ditch. When one got ripe enough my dog insisted that she needed to investigate it. I'll spare you most of the rest of the details but I will say that at some point the hoofs just pop right off and there's a pink hoof-shaped "finger" underneath. I could've went the rest of my life without knowing this.

I had to dispose of a giant dead possum today.

I found a dead bird on a path, but I did not dispose of it, but eventually I fear I shall have to move it elsewhere.

When a friend was visiting from Florida and we passed a dead animal on the road she was afraid it was going to stink-since probably most carcuses do in the hot Florida sunshine. But in Washington it is mostly cold, or the rain washes it away, or the big birds dispose of them naturally.

I would have left it for the vultures, but I have two heathen dogs, and it died in the front yard. I tried to dig a hole to bury it, but every time I started to get a decent hole there were fucking pvc pipes. There used to be a sink and a spigot in that area for cleaning fish, and that was removed a few years ago, but I didn't want to risk breaking real waterline. ANYWAY, I ended up picking it up with a shovel and putting in the wheelbarrow and then tossing it into the burn pit. Hopefully the dogs won't try to go down there, and the birds will find it when it starts stinking.

My dog hunts groundhogs. And carries them back home when she gets one. These days a fox has gotten wise to this so anything The Dog doesn't manage to eat the day she brings it home is usually gone in the morning. But before that it was like living with a serial killer. I forget how many groundhogs I've buried or thrown in the trash. Eventually I got tired of it enough that I just started dropping them down the access shaft for the old septic tank. (I delayed on this as long as I could in case I wanted to turn it into a cool bomb shelter/batcave.)

Today I am likely going to be punished for my Rainman OCD. Big winter storm hits this afternoon (temps are already miserable but the snow doesn't start for a few more hours). I'm told the grocery shelves are picked clean, but I do my grocery shopping on Saturday afternoon and Saturday wasn't until today. I may bend a bit and go before lunch, but that's as far as I'll go.

I cleaned and straightened up a shed at mom's and I found a bag of rocks. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW EXCITED I AM BY THE ROCKS.

I am also an archaeologist. The back 8' or so of my house is over a crawlspace instead of a basement so, to amuse myself, I've been digging it out as much as possible. I've found around a half dozen marbles in the dirt I hauled out. The kids must've played marbles outside the old back door before the house was added onto.

When I was a kid I would dig massive holes to look for old bottles. Back in the old days people buried their trash, so I did find a few cool ones. Nothing valuable but I did find a couple Edison oil bottles that I think were used on trains. They were very small bottles, so idk.

One of the rocks is some kind of fossil that I can't remember the name of. It's whitish, but has these bubble looking nodules. Also a couple pieces of petrified wood.
