What game are you playing on a Nintendo console at the moment?

I bought a SNES-Mini for £50, comes with 2 pads and 20 games but the SD card is 8GB so I can literally fit every SNES game ever made onto an 8GB SD card.

But out of the pre loaded games I have been playing Super Mario World, Castlevania IV and Donkey Kong.

I put a phone card in the picture so you all could judge the scale of it.

They haven't changed the price of the consoles since the Trumpriffs started, but they did increase the prices of some peripherals like the pro controller. I doubt the UK price of the console will change. I pre-ordered on Argos already anyway. Will be the first time I get a new Nintendo on release day since the Gamecube. Life's too short to not waste hundreds of quid on a toy, I guess.

I am playing Mario Kart World, on Nintendo Switch 2.

It's good, it looks really nice and it's very smooth and the little celebrations the drivers do when they win are hilarious. I played a bit online and that's always so much more fun than playing against the computer because of the choas (and it's now EXTRA CHAOTIC with 24 drivers.) I got thrashed by 12 year olds but I had fun. Knockout Tour is a really great idea and gets incredibly tense when you get to a checkpoint. I managed to finish fifth, which is good I think, but I just missed out on the final four which was annoying.

Free Roman is weird. There's no framing at all, you just jump right into it. At first I thought "this is pointless, I won't play it for long." But the driving does feel really nice and the open world is completely seamless, so it's fun for a bit. There's cool background things like planes flying by and dropping items and Toads walking around. One of the first P-switches I found had me racing through animals in a safari like area. But then I just come back to "what's the point" as I don't know if the P-switch missions even unlock anything. I don't know why they didn't put in boss battles or a Crazy Taxi thing where you have to deliver drunks Toads home before their wives give them into trouble or whatever. But it is fun for a few minutes at a time.

Mario Kart World looks great, and the open world is a cool idea, but I’ve seen people say it’s a bit bare bones. Personally, I’m into achievement hunting, so I don’t mind as long as it has some collectibles and achievement system linked to the overworld. However, it's a bit surprising they did the hard part in making a gorgeous open world and then didn't do more with it.

It feels like they made the open world so that all the tracks would be linked and you can have GP races and Knockout Tours that were interlinked. Then, at some point, they just said "okay we put a lot of work into this open world, let's let the player drive around it freely!" But forgot to put any kind of story content in.

Cynicallyl I wonder if they thought a story mode would distract people from playing online/paying for the online service...
