Natalie Portman gets 'Booksmart'
Thesp to produce film for Fox

Fox is getting "Booksmart" with Natalie Portman, with the thesp set to produce the high school comedy for the studio.

Laffer will revolve around two overachieving high school seniors who realize the only thing they haven't accomplished is having boyfriends, and each resolves to find one by prom.

Sarah Haskins and Emily Halpern are penning the script.

Portman will produce with her partner Annette Savitch through their Handsomecharlie Films shingle. Shingle has "Love and Other Impossible Pursuits" and "Hesher," both starring Portman, in production.

BUT WILL SHE WEAR CLOTHING WHILE SHE PRODUCES IT?

Variety is known for its insidery industry slang. "Laffer" means comedy, "sked" means programming schdule, "skein" means show that airs 5 days a week, and "BOOHAT" means Uwe Boll or Michael Bay.
