Channel surfing and caught the tail end of it. Costner back in his prime. And yeah, I know it's a straight ripoff of a classic Russian film, but the scene on the steps still gives me goosebumps every time I see it.
Yeah. It's probably mentioned in the Wikipedia article (if there is one). There's a early 20th century black and white film about the Russian revolution(?) that has a famous scene that takes place with soldiers on steps, killing a bunch of civilians IIRC there's also a woman and a baby carriage in it. They borrowed from it very heavily for "The Untouchables".
