I like the way the captain is denying he left the ship before everyone was evacuated, while they are still pulling bodies from the ship.
He is also saying he didn't make an error in navigation, and that there was a rock in the wrong place, and where he was was supposed to be a lot deeper.
I'm no sea captain, but when you are in waters that shallow that you scrape the entire bottom of your ship out, your ship rolls over, but doesn't even have enough room to sink, that is not deep water.
