I hope he makes a better Bilbo than he did Arthur Dent.

You mean he's officially been cast as Martin Freeman in The Hobbit. ;)

I'm sure he'll be decent, but what are Bilbo's main character traits? Ian Holm's portrayal seemed a little bit eccentric (independent from his obsession with the ring).

Is he going to do the narration too?

You know, if you can't get James Earl Jones as a narrator, then you gotta have Freeman!

I THINK HE WILL DO THE PART JUSTICE

1. Everyone was shit in Hitchhiker's. It was a shit movie. They had Stephen Fry voicing the Guide and it was still shit.
2. Freeman was really good as Watson in Sherlock and the character wasn't at all like Tim.
3. Peter Jackson ain't no fool.
4. David Mitchell would have been better though.

Ronnie Corbett would have been even better than David Mitchell. He aint no spiggin' huftah, sunshine.

Wait a minute, I thought you said MORGAN Freeman...sorry.

He still might be able to pull it of with enough CGI...

The guy playing THorin isn't old enoguh. ;(

Is the Hobbit still planned as 2 films?

:(

I enjoyed it. Especially since it is HHGTTG canon, being written by Douglas Adams himself, and not adapted to the screen by some hack screenwriter!

I think he might do that face where he pulls his neck back, and makes a quizzical look.

and it will work, and all will be well

By that token, they could've quite happily cast Louis Walsh.

HE DOESN'T DO THAT FACE IN SHERLOCK IS THE POINT I WAS MAKING EARLIER.

And Douglas Adams wrote a draft of the screenplya, sure, but who knows how much of it made it on screen. I doubt his screenplay had the Babel Fish bit cutting off before the actual point about the non-existence of God.

I actually think it is a good casting.

There aren't many black people in The Hobbit - do you think they will cast some FOR PC GONE MAD reasons?

Many? There aren't any. And they haven't see far, but I've always wanted Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to play Beorn.

Tessa Sanderson as Sauron?

Samuel L. Jackson as Smaug?

I'll have to do some research, but I recall reading somewhere that Adams' version of the screenplay was more or less intact. I'll get back to you on this.

Yeah, well, the movie still sucked.
