I have a 2mb DSL line which isn't anything to get excited about these days but I am living in the middle of the ocean and I pull around 220kbs which is fine really.

I have a shitty 30kbs upload speed though which gets on my nerves. They're upgrading the lines here though so I'll probably be upgrading soon.

I have whatever Virgin decides it's top speed is, which sometimes is a nice 2 MB/s, but mostly is slower-than-56K speeds.

Time Warner Cable (actually Earthlink Broadband through Time Warner Cable) CAN HAZ BIG BALLZ!

That's actually a slower test result than usual; I'm on the work computer, connected to all the remote business servers in Texas. My laptop usually tests higher for download, but the upload value is about the same.

keep in mind that's with torrents running, so add another 40-50KBps to the upload total.

Ugh... Due to contractual obligations by my current slumlord I can't get Comcast where I live. I can only get this no-name bullshit cable provider that doesn't have cable internet and makes you pay $80+ for only 50 channels. I'm not a subscriber. I'd rather get my TV through my downloading, thank you. Anyway, I'm locked into a shitty contract with Verizon for another few months. After that, I'm jumping ship and going straight for Comcast cable internet. I've lived with this annoying DSL connection for almost a year.

Current rate:

I'll be upgrading to a 700kbps DL speed as soon as I relocate this month on the 10th. But, my upload doesn't change. Which totally sucks.

I can't wait for cable.

Used to have 768 kbps. Yes, that's just sad. Upgraded to 5000 kbps a couple weeks ago, so now it's almost acceptable. Tried the internet at my new "home" for the next couple of months: 1.2 MB/s.
This should be sweet.

just for comparison, the above test result is from a T1 line i helped install at my current location. comcast > T1. the only thing a T1 will beat comcast on is latency and uptime, but it's certainly not raw download speed.
