I loved Bottom BACK IN THE DAY but I was young and probably more easily impressed by fart jokes and random violence, but then again I still think the Gas Man episode stands up as classic comedy, but Rik and Ade are old now and Rik's all unfunny beer adverts and Ade's all ITV isn't the country great stuff, so this could be bad and quite sad. But it might be good.

Isn't this the show where Rik Mayall was always sweating heavily? I watched a group of his shows all about the same time a while back... there was another one with four guys living in a house and Madness made a guess appearance for some strange reason.

That was the young ones, that where it all started.

They have been trying to recapture that glory ever since, but I think there comes a point where you just have to stop trying.

The Young Ones had a musical guest every episode so that it qualified as a variety show rather than a comedy and got a bigger budget from the BBC. Well, one episode didn't have music but had a lion tamer instead. Madness were in two episodes.

That's interesting and kind of weird. :phpwink:

It could go either way, couldn't it? They either look really sad & pathetic, or the sad & patheticness lends to that of the characters, thereby making them even funnier!

There were so many great parts of Bottom (LOL PUN), I hope they do it justice.

Rik Mayall should do a show based entirely on stunts on a quad bike.

He should take suggestions from the public every week.

A sure fire hit.

I'm sure he would appreciate the irony, if he remembered anything about the incident.

But like Gordon Kaye, he needed that like a plank in the head.
