Strange New Worlds Season 5

I'm sure having this thread before season 4 is even out won't casue any confusion this time!

I like Thomas Jane, but he's 56 years old so it's really weird to cast him as a young version of McCoy, who the internet tells me was 38 in season 1. Granted, DeForest Kelley was 46 at the time, but that's still younger! Janes is 25 years older(!) then the guy who plays Scotty and there's no fucking way McCoy was 25 years older than Scotty. Of cousre they could still be doing my proposed "Scotty is trapped in a time loop" episode to age him up before the end.

I thought the new Sulu was a girl for a moment and they'd gender-swapped him but it's a guy lol never mind.

Other people elsewhere were confused about him as well. They may be playing the gay angle, even though Takei once said Sulu wasn't gay.

Of course he wasn't. He found time for a family, had a daughter who became the helmsman of the Enterprise-B, Demora Sulu. But they may play up the fact that he was the ship's Botanist before he became the Helmsman.

Don't you remember? Being Vegan gives you Vegan powers! He looks much younger than he actually is ;)

Yeah that makes sense, kind of like Scotty says he doesn’t drink much.
 
He totally blew that guy to get the helicopter in ST:IV. And Takei claimed to be playing a straight character, but..."Can I be oiled up and shirtless for my swordfight?" His idea of straight is...interesting.
 
Literally the only hetero Sulu moment is mirror universe Sulu trying to rape Uhura.
