Where is the Random Thread of Randomness stuff that doesn't belong in other threads thread?

Maybe we're supposed to leave it out by our garbage cans, so the raccoons leave the cans alone and have a party with the cake instead?

In case people aren't up on USA pop culture, there is a kind of mutant raccoon in the Seattle Washington area with long legs, a short spine, and a bobbed tail that people have taken to calling "Jimothy."

Nearly ten thousand people voted for a bin to be a member of parliament, shame twice as many votes for a cunt.

Sorry, I meant racist, five million bribe, almost certainly about to get kicked out again soon, cunt.

Walking The Dog past a guy, cleaning his big Cadillac Escalade with tinted windows and realizing the A-Team had a van because SUVs didn't exist in 1983. They need a vehicle that everyone can be in so they can have scenes with all the characters with exposition as they're going somewhere. A station wagon--or even a big sedan really doesn't cut it. I mean, you did have the custom van fad of the late 1970s, but the main reason was because they needed a vehicle that would work for the stories in the show and there was no such thing as an SUV yet.

I collect die cast 1/24 vehicles, the a team van is surprisingly short compared to other star cars like the general Lee, KITT or the ford torreno.

I've got a 1:1 model and it's interesting. On one hand it looks in some way smaller than modern vans or the big SUVs, but when you really compare it to a minivan you see why one is called a "minivan." And the interior...it isn't 100% accurate. It's better than a lot of the ones people have done, but it's eye-opening. The aftermarket captains chairs are so much larger than the stock chairs (the Vandura is a utility van so there's just a driver and a passenger seat). There really isn't room for the front seats to swivel like they could on the show the way I've got them set up. And you can't put down the outer arm because the door handle gets in the way. (The Rally Wagons--the passenger version--and the actual van just had a strap for pulling the door closed, not the molded armrest handle for that very reason.)

You win this round.

OMG I love it!

Do you have a mini 14 with stainless steel folding stock as well?

lol. Sadly, I do not. They are effing expensive. You can get 3 AR-15s for what 1 Mini-14 costs. I plan to buy myself one as a present when the day comes that I don't worry about money.

The van needs a lot of work too. It is Version 1.1. It runs. It's got most of the parts an A-Team van has. But it's got an ancient 4.6L V6 instead of a 350cid V8. The paint is definitely a 15' job. For example some of what appear to be reflections of clouds on the upper part are a paint mismatch. My airbrush started clogging up as I was finishing up shooting and I tried touching up a couple bad spots with a spray can. It doesn't have any kind of 3rd row seat (where they had the hidden gun locker). And it would be nice to have someone that actually works on this sort of thing for a living to take everything apart and put it back together right, but for now I'm pretty happy with it. And it's a kick to come out of the hardware store and see it sitting there waiting. (I got it because you can't fit a sheet of plywood or drywall in a Ford Mustang, no matter how clever you are.)

Interior. Not 100% screen accurate for a variety of reasons, but better than most replicas:

I love it when youtube reminds me about people I loved when I was a little kid.

Cuchi Cuchi!

There are fairly good odds she'll be on this afternoon's Love Boat rerun on MeTV.

I was...47? 48? when I moved to Louisville. Before that I never had a gas oven or air conditioning. Didn't want either. But the house I bought had a gas oven and now I hate the thought of electric. And every house has central air conditioning. And I can't imagine how I could live without it. I can see where, if you lived somewhere that the weather makes you not need it (like I had to this point) or where no one has it (so you've never experienced it) you could live without it, but once you've lived somewhere hot (and humid*) enough and lived in a house that has it, you can't go back.

This post brought to you by the 96F heat index of 112F day we're having as I huddle in the house with the curtains drawn and the AC sucks up the humidity and belts out cool air.

*In Wisconsin and Oregon the humidity is low enough that you can open windows at night to cool your house off. In Kentucky any time it is cool enough to lower the house temperature it is too humid and everything will get moldy.

[edit: Now that I think about it, I appreciated AC in Iraq, but somehow that doesn't translate. Living in a tent in Iraq is not a usual occurrence. ]

Sometimes I worry I spend too much on Lego.

Not for very long though.
