Last night on my public television station the showed Hendrix at Woodstock. It was nearly the entire set. Awesome!

That was a good set, despite the filth and squalor.

I was at that set in real time. It's been glorified and glamorized beyond belief. In real time, this stuff was plain, and filthy. You could see the genius, but it was ordinary, played in squalor to people who treated it mostly like background music. Incredible I know...but I used to go to Tea Party just outside of Kenmore Square with my brother when I was 11 and 12 to see Airplane and Hendrix and the Dead and Joplin. Santana was a "new" band at Woodstock. Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath were NOT invited :D.

It was different then.
