I read that this afternoon in US Weekly and I must admit, I got excited, I still have my first pair of Wayfarers that my brother bought me for Christmas back in 1988. They're in mint condition so that's $140.00 I won't have to spend.

I have no less than seven different pairs of Ray Ban glasses, and a pair of Wayfarers are one of them. While they're not reallly ever able to go out of fashion I'm surprised its taken this long for them to come back into the mainstream again.

I still wear my Aviators most of the time though so I doubt I will be wearing my Wayfarers this summer.

They're that good?

They're good enough for Tom Cruise circa "Risky Business." You be the judge.

Oh I've had my Oakley's (metal not those gay plastic things), Nike, J.Lo, Gucci, couple three pairs of Ray Bans, all different styles, now I usually wear my Fendi but at least I have the option of the Wayfarers too.

Mine were stolen out of my car -- the evil thief broke the window to get at them. Grrrrr and a pox on the thief!

Jesus Christ. Sunglasses are sunglasses. As long as they do the gorramn job.

No, Wayfarer's are something else, there is a simplicity to the design and a "timelessness" to them.

I still have my pair from highschool too.
(yeah, that probably makes 'em "un-cool")

I just took a look at my Wayfarers and they don't say "Ray Ban" on the outside of the ear but I do still have the "BL" on the lense, sweet.

Must be knockoffs.

Nope, they're the real deal. My brother, quite the fashionista in the 80's , now he sports the very Nordstrom "dad" look, bought them for me for Christmas, he wouldn't be caught dead buying knock offs and at the time we were close, he'd never dupe his baby sister.

Yeah. Before "Risky Business", "Blues Brothers" and the big mid-eighties Wayfarers fad they just had plain hardware on the temples. When the market got flooded with $5 knock-offs, they started putting the logo on the temples.

I used to have assloads and assloads of knockoffs but I think I threw them away. Had a real pair too, but I had prescription lenses put in them. Besides, they got acid or some shit on one of the temples, and they look like ass now. :(
