View Full Version : The Legendary Troll Kingdom First Anniversary Thread!

Ok...It's only the ONE MONTH Anniversary (What is that? Paper? Tin? Diamond? Fecal matter?) but Skinofevil did not want to let it go unrecognized and thought that it was a good time to pause for some reflection, introspection, and fish for compliments.

The question is put forth to both those who have put work into building this place and to those who just come to contribute here:

1. How do you like what Troll Kingdom has become?

2. Has it exceeded your expectations or is this pretty much how you thought this place would turn out?

3. Did you think this place would be a moth-infested dump full of dead threads not touched in weeks and only occassionally nudged by the two or three posters left who come by to poke the corpse?

4. Would you miss TK if it hadn't lasted the month?

5. Where would you like TK to go in the future?

Skin applauds the work of all those who have built this place into what it is. Skin would name names but since he doesn't want to offend anyone by forgetting them, he'll just throw out a blanket compliment to them all. Skin will, however, acknowledge in particular Captain Decker and MissManners for keeping him in the loop and not letting him drift off into oblivion. They should be proud because this isn't some shabby fly-by-night do-it-yourself EZ board. It's legit now ...and it seems going pretty strong!...All without having to beg our posters for money!

Skin also thanks all those who have come by to post and contribute. This place would be the cadaver described in question three without you.

Has it really only been a month? Feels much longer.

1) It's OK.

2) Yes.

3) Didn't care.

4) Maybe. Probably not.

5) A Happy Place

I hope that helps. :D

I'm very impressed. I think this is ten times better than the Ezboard. I like how busy the "Speak Freely" forum is and the amount of interesting new posters who are here now.

The fact that the amount of traffic in "Speak Freely" is now nearly as high as "Godforsaken Hell Holes" is testament to the fact that TK is now not just a place too bitch about Big Blue anymore (although that's still fun of course). Whereas Speak Freely's equivalent in the old Ezboard, "Troll Playground", was usually pretty dead.

2. Has it exceeded your expectations or is this pretty much how you thought this place would turn out?

Definitely exceeded expectations. A couple of months ago it seemed like TK was finished, now TK.com is much busier than the old TK ever was.

3. Did you think this place would be a moth-infested dump full of dead threads not touched in weeks and only occasionally nudged by the two or three posters left who come by to poke the corpse?

Yes I did. Executor's TK2 seemed to be dying a very sorry death indeed. I remember thinking "Well, that the end of TK then"

4. Would you miss TK if it hadn't lasted the month?

Yeah I would. Although I rarely post (I never have anything too interesting to say to be honest), I lurk pretty much everyday. TrekBBS has become so sanitised and dull now. Misc makes for almost painful reading.

5. Where would you like TK to go in the future?

I think you should concentrate on promoting TK as the kind of BBS where (almost) anything goes. I've noticed that more and more message boards nowadays are infected by forum Nazis and heavily moderated by social inadequates on power trips. It's not just Big Blue, these people are everywhere - and it's getting worse. :x

I think you need to get out to other major message boards and start spreading the word a bit. Really emphasise that this is a board where you can say what the fuck you want. You'll see that a lot of people feel the same as you do and are possibly crying out for a board where they can talk about Star Trek/Star Wars/Buffy/Whatever without getting banned/edited/warned by some geek who thinks that just because he has "Moderator" under his username, he's the internet's answer to Judge Dredd!

You should emphasise the "TK Entertainment Centre" more. Give fans of the various franchises a reason for coming here. Or Perhaps split it? Create a sci-fi forum and a sports forum or something. The "Speak Freely" forum isn't enough. You should give non-TrekBBSers more incentive to join.

Anyway, I'm a bit sleep deprived right now so I hope some of the above makes sense. :?

LOL! Not to mention the fact that I had a three week head start on him! About 30 or so of my posts were from testing the forums.

I have a LONG way to go before I reach that level of posting.

Nothing kills a message board like stagnation. Just doing my part to make the new TK a more interesting place. ;)

Speaking of which:

1.) TK has done something very significant: It has overcome existing only as a haven for the permabanned and seems to actually be trying to establish itself under the "free speech" banner. You all should be proud of what you have done. :)

2.) So far it has exceeded my expectations, but.....(see 5)

3.) Well, I try to post often to keep things flowing. A lot of other posters do a great job of this as well. Gotta keep it fresh! :D

4.) Yeah, I love you guys! I'd miss you if it....was.....SOB.....gone! :(

5.) There are only 2 problems that I can see with TK in its current form. I fear that they may be the death of this board depending on how this all plays out.

a - Many use this place as a rallypoint for anti-other-bbs sentiment. TK might be much better off if its posters focused more on making it a better place and less on why other boards are so poor. This also may scare of less "socially conscious" posters.
b - There needs to be something other than freedom to draw people here. People will stay because of the freedom, but they won't come initially for it (for the most part...).

Everyone here has done a great job! Congratulations! :D

Well, I've been here one day... Never went to the old EZboard version although my wife has, so here's what I think, for what it's worth...

It's a quite impressive board, it's better than Trek or Slipstream as far as interface goes and it's ALOT better when it comes to speaking your mind.

I'm afraid that I like it... alot.

God help me...

2. Has it exceeded your expectations or is this pretty much how you thought this place would turn out?

This board is MUCH more impressive than I thought it would be as are the quality of posters here. I've been reading some of the material ye have laying around and it's very good. I was afraid I'd be looking at a den filled with complete wankers such as melonboy and that idjit Red Cliff that spammed the SS with porn for no discernable reason.

3. Did you think this place would be a moth-infested dump full of dead threads not touched in weeks and only occassionally nudged by the two or three posters left who come by to poke the corpse?

Actually yes... I had no idea there were so many regulars here... There are many that I would deem worthy to carry on a decent, intelligent conversation, a complete surprise.

4. Would you miss TK if it hadn't lasted the month?

Can't miss something if ye never knew it existed, so no..

5. Where would you like TK to go in the future?

There have been alot of great suggestions so far...

I agree that recruiting is a must... The whole Troll thing won't sell many tickets because there's really not a mass appeal for that sorta thing, but there are ALOT of people that don't care for the heavy handedness we're getting on those other boards and would FLOCK to a place where they could speak with other intelligent people about whatever they chose. Most wouldn't care to be trolls or even have the first idea HOW to be a troll, but there's alot more to this place than that dontcha think?

How bout a Jacuzzi... I like the jets, yeah, that's the spot...

That post is written by something that is so stupid, if I took its tiny brain and rolled it down the edge of a razor blade, it would be like a lone car going down a six lane highway. Dullard, do yourself and everyone else a favor: disconnect your computer from the Internet.

I notice that you never let an idea interrupt the flow of your posts. Are you always this ignorant, or are you making a special effort today? A long period of non-posting would be most welcome on your part. As Abba Eban so aptly said: "His ignorance is encyclopedic."

What possessed you to think that you were capable of being entertaining or interesting to read? Why don't you close your mouth before someone sticks an apple in it? Maybe you wouldn't come across as such a jellyfish-sucking mental midget if you had enough brains to find water after falling down a well; if your weren't so fat that the elephants throw you peanuts at your local Zoo, or if you didn't have a face so ugly that your Psychiatrist makes you lie face down. Nah, of course you would.

In conclusion, as your clue meter is reading zero, lets see if this registers: Get lost, creep!

^That could be why there will never be someone quite so talented. If you can't admire a master then your ego is entirely over-inflated because of unoriginal spam.
