16kb? how?

How did everyone get such large, nice looking avatars for under 16kb. Anything that i reduce to that, is either really tiny, or extremely distorted, and bad quality.

Seriously, mine might not be one of those that you find "nice looking", but all I did was to do a search on altavista with the first words that popped in my mind : Evil duck

That duck was for sale on the net and I took the pic...

Just look around the net, most small pics out there are the right size for avatars.
